“I don’t have time.”
Sit on that statement for just a minute. How familiar of a statement is that for you as a business owner? I have already talked about how successful people have time so I am not going to go there again. What I do want you to consider are the types of things that you say you don’t have time for.
Could some of the things that you don’t have time for actually save you time in the long run? I wrote an article for our My Business World newsletter recently about product creation. Creating products is one of those common areas where I hear business owners say that they don’t have time.
As a business owner, I know your time is in short supply but you should be worried if you are too busy for activities that can move your business forward. Product creation is one of those critical activities that you need to have time for.
Think about the most commonly asked questions in your business. Is your website’s FAQ page doing the job in answering those properly or are there other ways that you can engage your customers so that they get your business?
One common scenario where product creation can be effective and time saving is in the first time you meet with that new client. How do you shorten that new customer’s learning curve about your business? You shorten their learning curve by educating your customer before they ever meet with you.
A great way to shorten their learning curve it to create a video that gives them the essential information about your business before they come in. The video is low maintenance in that once it’s created, you can use it over and over again and answer a lot of the questions that a customer may have about your business before they even meet with you.
This simple scenario creates efficiency in your business as well creates a better experience for your customer as well. You can create videos, articles, podcasts, etc. about many facets of your business and turn that into a product that leverages your time and knowledge.
When was the last time you thought about creating a product of some kind for your business and told yourself you don’t have time? Revisit that list of product ideas again and ask yourself how some of these potential products could save you time and effort in the long run. Now get busy creating.
