Book Review: On Purpose Leadership

At New Work Revolution, we are all about intention. We want to help leaders, like you, live a life by design vs. a life by default.

I recently had the opportunity to review the book, On Purpose Leadership. The book was significantly aligned with the thought processes and philosophies that we teach leaders. I felt like it was a great book to share with you as well as I think you will get a lot out of going through it.

The central premise of the book is the notion that to lead other people well, that journey starts with you. If you want to empower others in your leadership then you first have to go through the process of empowering yourself so that you can show up in leadership bringing your best to the table.

There are a lot of helpful exercises to help you identify who you want to be as a leader, we often refer to that process as “Building Your Leadership Philosophy”.

When you aren’t on purpose as a leader, you create a gap in your relationship to your team because they sense that you are off purpose with the way that you are leading. This gap impedes the progress of your team as well as your progress as a leader. The book does a great job breaking down how integrity gaps kill team dynamics.

The last thing that I will touch on in this review is the number of action items and tools that the author gives you to help you create an environment that allows you to lead on purpose. Tools like planning, morning routines, your schedule, etc. All of these things are designed to allow you to fully step into your power as a leader.

In leadership, it’s easy to forget who is in charge and feel victimized by circumstances that are happening around you. On Purpose Leadership will help you reset your leadership so that you can lead with clarity and play your game to the fullest.
