The Team That Plans Together, Builds Together

Communicate with your team and get them involved in the planning of your business. Your busier than ever, working harder than ever.  Your business has been trending this way for some time which seems good.  One thing that you have noticed is that you can only do so much.  For goodness sake,”you are just one person!”  At least, that’s your story.  The big question is why isn’t business growing at the same level as your to-do list?

The main reason is that you have become a rugged individualist and you don’t even realize it.  Instead of getting the freedom and upward potential that your business can offer, the reality is that you are overworked and overwhelmed.

There is a better way.  That better way starts with planning and great planning happens when business owners decide to build that plan with a team.

Planning is a task that not every business owner look forward to.  In fact, you may chuckle at your ability to put off planning as you are reading this.  The reality is that you can make planning for your business a whole lot easier if you use your second greatest asset in your business, your team.

Getting your team involved in the planning of your business is great way to get new ideas from your team.  It’s also a terrific way to build relationships with your team through enhanced communication.

The best part of getting your team involved in planning?  When you get your team involved in the plan it’s their plan too.  It’s not you, sitting in your ivory tower, passing down the objectives from on high.  Your team, or key players on your team, were there on the ground level helping you create the game plan and then participating in the building of that plan.

Why is getting your team involved important?

How often have you wondered why your team isn’t working on important tasks?  Have you ever thought that your team isn’t as engaged in the work that they do as you would like them to be?  Getting your team involved in some of the planning aspects of your business help to eliminate some of those issues.  Now your team has ownership in the plan.  It’s not your plan, it’s our plan.

If you have not done a great job of delegating objectives to your team, the good news is, it’s not too late.  Get your team together for a high level meeting and start talking about what you can do to be on the same page, working towards a common goal.  Set objectives in your business, start enjoying the results and get your life back.
