A Powerful Resource To Get You Out Of Your Holding Pattern In Business

How are you using people as a resource?Despite all the information you consume and all the work you do in your business, it’s still really easy to get stuck.  The most challenging thing about being stuck is that oftentimes it isn’t obvious that we are stuck.  If you feel like you might be in a rut then here are some things you can do to get out.  If you aren’t sure if you are in a rut try these things anyway.

Before I get into the resources let me tell you about some recent inspiration that I received that help get me out of my rut.  I spent some time in Houston, TX recently working on my presentation skills.  During this time of listening and engaging with other speakers, it became abundantly clear that there were several areas of my brand and my business that I was flat out ignoring.  It felt like a punch in the stomach and I hadn’t even presented my material yet!

Going through this powerful learning experience it reminded me of a powerful lesson that helped me break out of my holding pattern in business.

The powerful resource centers around people.  More specifically, here are a few tips on using people to achieve breakthroughs in your business:

Tip #1-  Hire a coach or a mentor–  As much as you would like to think that you can look at yourself objectively,  desire in this case is not enough.  A blind spot is a blind spot.  Going to the speaking boot camp in Houston reminded me of this. You need to have professionals looking at what you are doing and giving you that objective instruction.

Tip #2- Get out of your circle- You can’t achieve breakthroughs in your business and life if you are around the same people day in and day out.  It’s not that your circle of influence is bad.  It’s just that nothing is changing.  Breaking out allows you to find new people with new ideas and expands your network.

Tip #3- Get out there- Start exposing yourself to new content and information.  There is so much great content out there and so many smart people, I promise that if you start looking today, you won’t run out of people to meet and content to experience.

Tip #4- Build a better relationship with yourself- This may sound a little counterintuitive but many times we don’t spend enough quality time with ourselves. When was the last time that you spent quiet time with yourself?   Here’s what I do during this quiet time.   There’s literally a gold mine right between your ears.  It’s time to start mining it.

Stuck in a holding pattern in your business or life?  Try the above tips and gain that additional perspective that you didn’t even know you needed.

PS… Speaking of perspective.  This is why we created the My Business World coaching club.  Connect with business owners and content that is fresh and relevant every single month.  Talk to you later.
