Flying by the seat of your pants can be an exhausting journey. With all the demands that are placed upon business owners, it’s easy to see why we always seem to be responding to crises and jumping from fire-to-fire. When your schedule is like that blogging is usually one of the last things on your list. We are going to change that today.
I am not going to sit here and tell you that blogging should be the most important part of your business (unless it is your business). I will say that there are ways to make creating blog content easier. One of those things is by creating a blog schedule to create content with.
What got me thinking about this was a recent post from Lisa Barone on Small Biz Trends. She was talking about content creation myths and she brought up the fact that business owners are publishers and that we should create a schedule for ourselves. It got me thinking about how I handle content creation and how most business owners handle the process.
So I have 3 simple steps to help you create content for your business:
Step 1: Do just what Lisa talked about and set up a schedule. In business, I think it’s important to set up certain rhythms for your business. Content creation time should be set up on a regular schedule.
Step 2: Create time and space. You can’t accomplish content creation if you don’t create the time and space to work on it. This piece is critical. Ignoring this dooms you to failure because other things will always be more important.
Step 3: Create an end game. What do you want to accomplish with content creation? What topics are relevant to your business? How else could you use the content? For books? Videos? Make sure you know what the next steps are with your content creation.
Want to create more content for your business? Do you have a blog that is neglected? Take these simple steps and put a plan into practice for your business.
