Even The Best Need It….

aerial-viewCoaching.  When we think of the term, we often think about sports.   When we become adults and assuming you’re not a professional athlete (if you are a professional athlete and are reading this, that’s cool too.), we don’t think about having coaching in our lives.  We assume we should be able to handle things on our own because we are, after all, grown ups.  For anyone who wants achieve a higher level of success, coaching can be a valuable tool that even the best use to get better.

It’s been a while since I talked about coaching, but  is a valuable part of realizing success personally and professionally.  We can get coaching for fitness and diet, spirituality, education, business building, family interaction etc etc.  As individuals in our own lives, it’s hard to see what’s going on in our lives because we are right there at ground level living in it.  We just worry about the moment and taking care of what needs to be taken care of in that moment.  Before we know it, 30 years have passed us by and we are wondering how we got in this place to begin with.  Where did it all start?  Why didn’t I take time to look around once in a while and enjoy it?  This is easy to do when you are focused on work and family and doing the best for them.

We can get a 30,000 ft. view from a coach who can keep us from falling into the rut where our life is consistently on autopilot with no new direction to be traveled.  When I first heard of life coaching, for instance, it was from a buddy of mine a few years ago.  I thought life coaching was the dumbest thing I had ever heard because I was stuck in that thought process that we are adults and as adults we solve our own problems because we are rugged individuals who will walk uphill in the snow even when the route we need to take is downhill during the summer.  The more I learned about life coaching and other forms of coaching, the more I realized that with the right direction, more can be gained for your life with the right help and guidance.  The growth that can be achieved is exponential.

I heard some where that 95% of what we do is habit.  95%!  We need help sometimes to forge new direction and continue personal improvement.  We can’t always do it on our own.  The most successful people I know have help in terms of coaching to keep their lives moving forward and growing.

What are the possibilities for you to have a coach in your life?  In what area is a coach needed?  What would be the results if you did hire a coach?  What would keep you from working with one?
