When I was asked the question of solving big problems a couple of years ago, it gave me the final piece of inspiration that I needed to start my business. I knew what my talents were but had no idea how to put those to use to build a business platform until I considered the question of what big problems existed that need to be solved.
Analyzing problems that exist in the market is a great way to get ideas for creating products or services. New ideas and innovation get me excited just talking about it. About 4 months ago I read an article in Fast Company titled: Wireless Electricity Is Here (Seriously). The article is about the beginning developments of wireless electricity and its’ initial applications. The concept of wireless electricity blows my mind. This development will change the power industry dramatically as well as how we as consumers use it.
This is one example of an enhancement that can bring tremendous value to the marketplace. One industry that I am familiar with is the banking industry, having worked in it for almost 10 years. This industry needs a serious overhaul. Who is going to lead the charge? There are some groundbreaking changes to be made in how banks operate and do business. Whoever does this stands to make money by creating better operating practices and reducing the amount of infrastructure that currently exists. I will give you a hint, it won’t be the government that solves the banking problem as their strategy seems to be to throw large amounts of money at the problem and hope that it works out. Every good gambler knows that you don’t throw good money after bad.
I bring banking up only to illustrate the importance of looking at the current landscape of society to see what we can do to affect massive change in the world.
