The Key To Confrontation Is In The Motive

Good confrontation comes from good motives.Confrontation.  People are either scared to death of it and don’t do it.  Or they lack emotional intelligence and they confront in all the wrong ways.

Good confrontation comes from having the right motive for the conversation.

In this week’s podcast, I share four specific areas to consider the next time you confront someone in an unproductive way or shrug off confronting someone altogether.

  1. Another great podcast. Here’s my summary takeaway/CliffsNotes:

    For “Confrontation” to work, it must be TSR: Timely – Specific – Respectful

    And we must come from a place of making THEM right, not ME.

    The goal is fourfold:
    1) Solve the problem/s
    2) Advance careers and grown people
    3) Protect the integrity and values of the business (failing to address sends wrong signals to staff who do the right things)
    4) Protect the client experience

    If you don’t confront issues as they come up the results will be much worse than had you Respectfully addressed the Specific issues in Real Time.
