One way to run your business is by worrying about and micro-managing every little thing in your business. That's tough but it can be done and be forewarned, it's not very fun. Another way is to focus on getting results and making sure that the people who work with your business get what they are looking for. That's always fun.
Whatever you are, be that and be it all the time. You don't have to be the Ritz Carlton but you do have to be clear on who you are. A great example of delivering a high level experience is eyeglass maker, Warby Parker. Warby Parker makes stylish eye wear at an affordable price. The average pair of glasses cost around $260. Warby Parker sells theirs for $95. They sell style and affordability and they get results for their customers. focusing on getting results for your end users is easier said than done.
There are a few culprits that tend to get in your way to focusing on a high level experience for your client.
Is your business about time or results? Time could be the result. It depends on your business model. I hear a lot of business owners tell me that they need to make sure that they spend a certain amount of time with their clients, patients, etc. Your end-user does not care about time. They pay you to get a result. Get them results in the shortest time frame that makes sense.
This tip is for newer business owners. Stop worrying about your experience. We all start somewhere. Start talking to people as if you already are who you want to be. No wants to work with a trainee. You probably have a set of life experiences that makes you passionate and knowledgeable about what you do. Keep that in mind and use that combination of knowledge and passion to get people results.
The Little Things:
I like to read stories of others success and how they got to where they are at. You know what I don't read in those stories? Triumphant stories of getting paperwork done. Sending e-mail efficiently and so on. These things are important but they aren't ultimate. What you do read in the stories of successful people is that they had a clear message and they showed people that they could get results. What are the truly big things that should be done everyday in your business? Focus on the results in your business. Unreasonable businesses focus on getting high level results for their end-user. Are you delivering at a high level? What could be done better? Are you worrying about time, your experience or the little things? If so, what can you do to shift your mindset? Let me know your story of getting people results and how you have been successful doing it. I would love to hear your story. PS… Looking to create an amazing experience in your business?
